Harmonizing Hermanas

I recently visited my Oma Ina at her house in Princeton and met up with my Great Nana, my Uncle Peter, Aunt Sally, cousin Jesse, Uncle Jim and his new wife, Wah, and Aunt Kathy with her two daughters, Kate and Kara.  Whew!  It was quite a trip!

It was my first big outing from the city and all the green really blew my mind.  I had to test out the acoustics just to make sure.

This got me all worked up but, luckily, the ladies figured out that I love to hear “Om”.  Love it!  Because: hOMer.  Duh.

Anyway, they were kind enough to walk me around the yard and chant and it really got me to my zen place.  Thanks ladies!

My Papa was thankful too.

Post Futurism

Earlier this week, my Mom had to give a presentation to the Guggenheim Board of Trustees. She’s so important, no one else could do it but her. I’m so proud!

Anyway, I had to do something between meals so my Papa and I went for a walk in Central Park.

I bet Pop that I could eat both my hands at the same time. But I couldn’t. My Papa is so smart!

It was so exciting that I just had to get naked and experience my first diaper change on a city park bench. Real New Yorker, yo, dat’s what’s up!

Then Papa took me to my first art show – Italian Futurism at the Gugg. It was pretty cool, actually. Much better than all this contemporary junk they’re always trying to pass off.

But there was also some scary stuff in there…

I liked it better outside.

Mixed Feelings

So, this came in the mail today… followed by a storm of conflicted feelings.

On the one hand, as my Papa says, now I can start working and making him money.

But on the other hand, now I’m in the system – on the grid. The MAN knows how to find me and I’ve seen what that looks like (I’m looking at you Mr. Drone).

Only 3 weeks old and already my career as a underground saboteur in the Rebel Forces has been compromised!

Man… I gotta think about this…

Grand Poppy

My Grand Poppy came last week bearing gifts.

A bust of some guy apparently named after me.

He was cool (Poppy I mean, not that other dude) and we hung out for a while.

And then Poppy totally blew my ancestral mind with a photograph of his own father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather!  Turns out I’m the first son of the first son of the first son going back to, like, the stone age or something.  Wild!

So my dad and I struck our very best 19th century pose for the occasion.

Which tuckered me right out…

Water Water Everywhere

I took my first bath and boy was it a doozy.  Not knowing what to expect, I initially reacted as anyone else would – I screamed my head off.

But after a moment of my mom’s tender caress, I realized the warm water wasn’t so bad.

In fact, I kinda liked it…

It reminded me of something, something familiar that I couldn’t quite place.

I liked it so much that, when it was time to get out, I made sure my complaint was registered.  To mark the occasion, it seemed only appropriate to resume screaming.

Mothers!! (Grand and Great)

Today is my first Mother’s Day.  I celebrated by yelling at the entire neighborhood all last night in preparation for a calm and cozy day today with my Mom.

Which brings back memories of a special visit last week from another bunch of mothers and family – my Oma Ina and Great Nana, along with with my Great Uncle Peter, Great Aunt Kathy and cousin Kate.  It was quite the party.

My folks and I were so happy to see everyone – thanks for coming!
